Respect Human Rights

This is our mini-exhibition which was held in the school foyer aimed at raising awareness about countries that respect human rights and those that unfortunately do not. ThrougCW 2019h the Connecting Worlds Project, we learnt that citizens all over the world deserve respect, dignity and integrity. To achieve peace and social justice we need to collaborate, be understanding of each other’s cultural differences, and be fair with one another.

We hope to continue raising awareness about the importance of human rights through family, friends and school projects.

    AZKEN ASANBLADA

Dekalogoa aztertua hauek izan dira guk ateratako ondorioak edo ideiak.

Alde batetik, demokrazia bada gaur egun, eta bere akatsengatik, dugun sistema politiko onena herritarron eskubideak bermatzeko. Halere, demokrazia ongizate estatutan bakarrek gara daiteke behar den bezala. Izan ere, gobernuak eskubide zibilak ez ezik, eskubide sozialak ere bermatu behar digu guztioi. Hau da ongi bizitzeko modu bakarra.

Beste alde batetik, ongizate estatua mantentzeko ezinbestekoa da zergak ordaintzea. Lortutako diruarekin zerbitzu publikoak ordaintzen dira: hezkuntza, osasungintza, garraioa… Hortaz, iruzur egiteak bakarrik dirudunen alde jotzen du. Paradisu fiskalak dirudunek diseinatutako modu bat da zerga gutxiago ordaintzeko, diru gutxi dutenei kalte eginez.

Hala ere, ongizate estatua arazo asko ditu. Paradisu fiskalez gain, dugun sistema ekonomikoak, kapitalismoak, ez du askorik laguntzen. Dirua lortzea, kosta ahala kosta, helburu bihurtu denez, ingurumena zaintzea bigarren, hirugarren edo laugarren planoan gelditu da. Horregatik planeta suntsitzea ez zaigu inporta.

Baina guk konpromiso bat hartu nahi dugu. Gure planeta zaindu eta politika berriak sortu nahi ditugu. Guztiok ongi bizi behar dugu eta ez gutxi batzuek bakarrik. Berdintasunaren alde borrokatuko gara!!

LAUDIO IKASTOLA (DBH3 A-DBH3 B): OUR CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL RIGHTS

It’s time we acted to help change some unfair situations, and this will be our challenge. We will take part in the campaign ‘What our mobile hides’ run by the Alboan NGO to help the DR Congo collective. In this campaign, we have the challenge of collecting at least one phone per student using the feel-think-act methodology. This  methodology has the following steps:

FEEL: The first step towards making change happen is to try to understand how people feel.

In class we have watched the video ‘what your phone hides’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOAwhgU52NY ) created by the Alboan NGO. The video has two parts, in the first one, the journalist Vanessa Sanchez talks about the conflict of the DR Congo where there are already 5 million people dead, and where the sexual violence rate is the highest in the world.

It talks about the millions that the armed groups earn by selling the minerals and that they use this money to buy arms. These groups control the mines, collect revolutionary taxes, dominate the smuggling routes to take the minerals to Asia, where they are blended with others to make different products.

At the end of their useful service lives, these devices are sent back to Africa as technology trash and end up in illegal dumping sites, causing high contamination and environmental damage that affects the life quality and the livelihood of the citizens.

The video also says that in 2013 alone, 1 million people fled from their houses trying to run away from war and violence.

In the second part, Vanessa talks about the possibilities we have as consumers of goods made with these minerals.

After watching the video we wrote our feelings in a sentence.  This is an example: “to live comfortably, consciously or unconsciously, we often trample on our neighbor.”

THINK: visualize and plan the road map… During this process we have to make and organise some proposals to tackle the issue.

We are actually in this phase in which  we have to start thinking about activities we could organise in order to collect as many devices as possible. In plenary we will write down all the ideas and choose (or vote for) the best two.

ACT: the last step is to put into practice what we planned. Make change happen !

We will have to draw a thermometer on which we are going to mark how many devices we are collecting.  In theory, the challenge will be to collect at least one phone per student, but we will probably collect many more than that.

We will share the campaign with you in the blog of Connecting worlds  to communicate what we are doing.

      See you …

        Campanya de sensibilització

        Bon dia
